I finally found out why that awful she-devil Zayra is
still on Rockstar SN instead of getting the big-boot
last week - according to TWOP (my Bible for all things
television) Supernovice Phil had made it clear that 1)
he was only on the show to get exposure for his band,
and 2) he didn't like Supernova's music anyway. Is it
any wonder that last week Gilby questioned his
"commitment" to the band and then booted him? D'oh.
So, we still have Zayra to suffer through.
AND THEN, last night she was in the bottom 3 during
the evening, but not in the ultimate final three so
she was SAFE again! Which means we get the pleasure
of hearing her "sing" again next week. I had to
laugh, though, because I think no one was more
surprised than her that she was safe.
And, we lost Dana last night, which is OK. I was done
with her anyway. For her obttom-three-song she chose
to sing "House of the Rising Sun" which she slowed
down a little bit, gave it a blusey-twist and
over-exaggerated the words. It wasn't bad. BUT, it
wasn't Eric Burden, and it certainly wasn't Frigid
Pink, which recorded MY favorite version of "House..."
Nobody beats Frigid Pink's version.
sidenote: The Blind Boys of Alabama recorded a cool
mixture of "Amazing Grace" and "House of the Rising
Sun" that's worth a listen if you haven't heard it.
