Rock Star: SN (last night)
Buh-bye, Patrice. It's about time you were "aufed" -
it's been coming for several weeks now.
Patrice was the last of the Supernovices who were
clearly not going to make it to the end. Her
departure leaves us with Storm, Ryan, Toby, Magni,
Dilana and Lukas. These are the six contestants most
of us viewers pegged from the start to be the
finalists. It's like the competition is finally going to
start now.
I'm a big Storm fan, but I think the guys are
intimidated by her - she's outspoken, freaking
gorgeous, tall and lushly-figured, and stands up to
them verbally and physically - they can't shake her.
I think she flusters them - they become little boys
when they talk to her. I'm throwing all my votes her
way. She has by-far the most professional experience
and poise, and the best voice of the remaining
Supernovices.
Dilana is a face-bejewelled freak who has lived to the
ripe age of 33 or whatever and has never learned when
to keep her big trap shut. Does she not realize that
"the music business" is called "business" because it's
a BUSINESS? You can't just spout out whatever you
think, whatever you feel, and not have repercussions.
It's a BUSINESS - if you're going to get anywhere you
have to follow some (not many) rules. Supernova
members and Dave are legitimately trying to teach some
of the rules of the road to these contestants - things
they've learned from the school of hard knocks, for
the most part. Dilana thinks she's some kind of REAL
star instead of a reality-show contestant whose name
we'll all forget in a few months. There have been
hundreds of reality show contestants with pumped-up
publicity in the last two or three years but how many
do we remember now? They may have been quasi-stars
while their shows were on but they were quickly
forgotten. (Test: Name the Supernovices who have
already left the show this season. Even I have to
think about that one.) Dilana is not a star. Not yet.
And, if she doesn't learn just a bit of humility, J.Q.
Public will not like her and will drop her like a hot
potato fresh from the fire. I'm sick of her attitude;
I hope she goes away next week. (not a chance)
Oh, and I'm really tired of the Dilana/Lukas
we-hate-each-other show. The producers seem to think
we're all fascinated by this mess and continually cut
to the one when the other is singing or talking, and
vice versa, to show us the hateful looks they give
each other. Yeah, we know, Dilana and Lukas hate each
other; you don't have to throw it in my face every
second. It's like a freak-show within a carnival. I
guess there's only room for one striped-haired, kohl
eye-linered, jewelry-in-unusual-places, shredded
clothing, contestant on RS:SN.
Anyway, last night's bottom 3 were Toby (who is in no
danger yet), Magni (second time a row in the bottom
3), and Patrice (4th week in the bottom three). It
was a foregone conclusion that Patrice was going
bye-bye. Her consolation prize was that she got to sing her
original song "to the world" this week. no comment.
