This sounds pretty familiar: The huge quake in Java,
that killed and devastated so many, may have
destabilized Mount Merapi and NOW there's the
possibility of having to survive an erupting volcano.
This is just what the scientists are speculating might
happen here if the "big one" hits the Cascadia fault,
creates a huge tsunami, and perhaps weakens one or
more of the mountains in the Cascades. Some of them -
St. Helens, Rainier, Adams, Hood, South Sister - are
currently showing signs of rumbling.
I just can't imagine what the people in Java must be
thinking. They're dealing with the aftermath of the
horrible earthquake and they're looking at the
mountain as it spews and spits and they probably
wonder just how much more they can take.
