Brisket Recipe from Michelle Loyet

Michelle is one of the Idiot Girls - she posted this on the Idiot Girls Yahoo group. I put the recipe here so I wouldn't lose it. I've always wanted to make a brisket but never have; someday I'll try this one. I think Aimee made one the other day but she never said how it turned out! I don't know whether to think that's good or bad.

The brisket recipe is super-duper easy.

All you need is:

1 brisket
1 net bag of onions from the grocery store
1 bay leaf or bunch of thyme
1 bottle beer, light or dark
balsamic vinegar
garlic
salt and pepper
beef broth
olive oil

In a dutch oven on the top of the stove, heat some oil. Salt and pepper the brisket and sear it in the dutch oven. While it is browning, slice all the onions. It will be A LOT! Like a whole mixing bowl full, that is ok.

Remove the brisket from the dutch oven and put the onions, garlic, bay leaf, and a splash of balsamic vinegar in the dutch oven.

Lie the brisket on top the onions.

Pour in the beer, and enough broth to come up to the bottom of the meat.

Put the top on the dutch oven and cook in the oven at 325 for at least 5 hours.

Remove the meat from the pot, and slice with electric knive.

Use immersion blender to liquefy onions to make gravy, or use regular blender but be careful so you don't burn yourself.
